Troubleshooting
When installing the US-224 for the first time, if you experience any unusual behavior, here are
some things to check:
In C
ONTROL P ANEL / S YSTEM / D EVICE M ANAGER (Win98SE/ME) or C ONTROL P ANEL / S YSTEM /
H ARDWARE / D EVICE M ANAGER (Win2000), find the Audio control panel. It's called S OUND , V IDEO
A ND G AME C ONTROLLERS in Win98SE, or S OUND & M ULTIMEDIA in W98ME and Win2K. You
should see two entries for the US-224:
TASCAM US-224
US-224 WDM Interface
In C
ONTROL P ANEL / M ULTIMEDIA , select the A UDIO tab.
Under P
LAYBACK , US-224 O UT should appear in the drop down menu
Under R
ECORDING , US-224 I N should appear in the drop down menu
In C ONTROL P ANEL / M ULTIMEDIA , select the MIDI tab. When S INGLE I NSTRUMENT is selected, you
should see:
US-224 MIDI
US-224 Control
In C
ONTROL P ANEL / M ULTIMEDIA , select the D EVICES tab. Under A UDIO D EVICES , you should see:
Audio for US-224
Under M
IDI D EVICES A ND I NSTRUMENTS you should see:
• MIDI for US-224. Expand by clicking on the plus (+) sign and you should see:
o US-224 MIDI
o US-224 Control
(US-224 MIDI corresponds to the US-224's physical MIDI I/O ports. US-224 Control is the "virtual"
USB MIDI port with which the US-224 and its control surface communicate with your application.)
