Skutch Electronics CK-4 User Manual
Introduction, Installation, Operation
• Introduction
The CK-4 is our four-channel telephone line simulator with auto ring
up. This unit simulates four, individual, standard telephone company lines
and also DID lines (suffix digits not sent). This unit allows Voice Cards to
be used as information systems at malls, hotels, or even trade shows; and it
allows you to demonstrate Voice systems on a multi-line level.
• Installation
Just connect single line phones to the jacks labeled Phone Channels 1, 2,
3 and 4 (or for 2 line phones, use the 1&2 and 3&4 jacks). The jacks labeled
Voice Card (Ring Up) Channels 1, 2, 3 and 4 connect to single line voice
cards (or use the 1&2, 3&4 jacks to connect to 2 line voice cards). The unit
operates on standard 110VAC house power.
• Operation
Simply take a phone channel "OFF HOOK" and the CK-4 will
automatically connect you to the assigned Voice Card Channel; i.e. Phone 1
to Voice Card 1, Phone 2 to Voice Card 2, etc. Once connected, you will
have talk battery and you will be able to use the touch tones on your phone
for control codes as needed. When you finish, hang up the phone and the
CK-4 will immediately disconnect the Voice Card by giving it a "CPC" or
"WINK" disconnect signal. Each line is completely separated from the
others, and each phone will be routed directly to the corresponding VOICE
CARD channel. If the Voice Card goes “ON HOOK”, while the Phone is
still “OFF HOOK”, then you will get a Reorder signal to let you know the
phone needs to go “ON HOOK”. The Channel lights will show the
following:
Steady
Phone is “Off Hook”
Fast Flash
Voice Card is “Ringing”

“Reorder” signal - Voice Card has “Hung Up”
