Threshold (Global Threshold)

Transmission Mode
The mode where light is transmitted through a film
master symbol rather than reflected from a printed
symbol.
Truncation
Decreasing the length of the bars in a bar code
symbol below the normal specification. Truncation
decreases a symbol

mni-directional readability
and should be avoided.
Valley
The graphical pattern on a scan reflectance profile
which looks like a
“U” or “V.” Within a profile a va
l-
ley represents a bar. One or more valleys could
also be found within an element representing a re-
flectance change within an element.
Vertical Redundancy
The availability of more than one scan path through
a bar code symbol.
Visual Measurement
Measurements obtained by using human vision in
the determination of characteristics of the bar code
symbol.
