PV power utilisation
5.1
Higher energy consumption
from the combination of heat
pump and PV plant
Ideal for new and existing photovoltaic plants
In order to increase the proportion of renewable
energies, the heat pump can be combined with a
photovoltaic plant. The controller uses as much of
the self-generated solar power as possible for heat
generation. By storing the solar power in the form
of heat, the energy consumption and therefore the
cost-effectiveness of the photovoltaic plant are
increased.
Smart heating function
Optimised use of PV power and smart grid
offers
The smart heating function optimises the use of
self-generated PV power with the heat pump.
In order to optimise the system, we recommend
the installation of a buffer tank with a capacity of at
least 500 litres. Furthermore, in addition to the
feed-in and personal use tariff, the controller can
store up to nine reference power tariffs. This allows
smart grid offers to be used to reduce heating
costs.
Personal use of self-generated solar power
with a heat pump
Heat pump operation is favoured when self-gener-
ated, low-price PV power is available. This means
that less, expensive power has to come from the
grid and dependence on rises in the cost of elec-
tricity is reduced.

n
The controller continuously measures the
output of the PV plant and household power
consumption.
n
As soon as there is a surplus, the setpoint for
hot water and heating is increased, in order to
use the power with the heat pump itself.
Can also be used for modernisation, in combi-
nation with solar heat
In addition, the heat pump can also be combined
with a solar heat system. This means that the solar
plant heats the domestic water during the sunny
months, and supports the heating system in the
trans-seasonal period.
Cost savings with smart grid offers
In order to compensate for the variation in feed-in
with renewable energies, in future ever more
energy suppliers will offer graduated tariffs. This
means very reasonable electricity prices, if there is
a lot of renewable energy available or not much is
being consumed. Heat pump operation is favoured
by the controller in times with more reasonable
electricity prices.

The power tariff is entered via the controller's well-
known, intuitive user interface. Depending on the
deviation of the current tariff from the average, the
setpoints are raised or lowered.
