Typically, drivers only need to be installed once. They do not have to be upgraded each time that you
upgrade your software.

There are separate Medallion Drivers for Windowsr95T and Window NT. Use these instructions if you
are operating Window NT.

1.

Verify that you are logged onto NT with Administrator capabilities.

2.

Insert the Medallion Suite CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.

3.

Double-click (open) the WinNT folder.

4.

Copy the following files to “WINNT\SYSTEM32\”.

Typically winnt is located on Drive C and often also has a version number attached as part of the name.
i.e. winnt35, winnt40.

cac_cfg.cpl

D32util.dll

5.

Copy the following file to “WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\”.

cac.sys

6.

Insert the Medallion DSP Card into the PCMCIA Slot as described in the Hardware Assembly
section.

7.

Reboot your computer. You will get a “New Hardware Found” message. Click OK. If you don’t get
this message, you may already have the drivers installed.

8.

Verify IRQ and I/O Port availability

a.

On the Start Menu, select the Program command, then “Windows NT Diagnostics”.

b.

In the “Windows NT Diagnostics” window, select “Resources”.

c.

Verify and write down available IRQs. i.e. 9, 10, 11

d.

Verify and write down the I/O Port Address. i.e. 0110-011F

9.

Open the Control Panel and double-click the CACDSP icon to open the CAC API Configuration
Utility window.

·

Enter the I/O Port for your system in the data entry box provided.

Typically the I/O Port is either 0x0110 or 0x0120.

·

Enter an available interrupt for your system in the data entry box provided.

Typically this is 10 or 11.

10. Click the DSP Tab. Click PCMCIA so that it is selected. Click the ADD button.

11. Click OK.

12. Restart your computer. You should hear a “happy” sound as your PCMCIA card is initialized.

Note: In Windows NT, the I/O and IRQ values do not show up in the menus after you close the
window. They are, however, stored in memory.

Your computer is now ready to run the Medallion software and communicate with the Medallion front-
end.
