1.1 Introduction
The Comtech EF Data (CEFD) CMR-5950 Digicast Inline Scrambler – referred to
throughout this manual as “the IS” – receives both encrypted and non-encrypted
content over an Asynchronous Serial Interface (ASI) to be scrambled using the
Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) Common Scrambling Algorithm (CSA) with
support for the ETSI TS 103 197 SimulCrypt Interface.
The IS provides unparalleled price versus performance, and is the most economical
ASI to ASI CSA scrambler for use with many commercially available Conditional
Access (CA) systems and provides support for Basic Interoperable Scrambling
Systems (BISS).
