1.2 Standard Features
Based on an embedded architecture, utilizing a FreeScale MPC859 CPU and
eCOS Operating System, the IS provides the following features:
• High Reliability
• ASI Input at rates as high as 213 Mbps
• Scrambling rates as high as 60 Mbps
• Support for BISS 0/1/E operation
• Ethernet SimulCrypt Interface for interfacing to an ECMG and
EMMG
• Support for all valid PIDs in 8192 range
• MPEG-2 188/204-byte operation
• Configurable Telnet and HTTP ports for security
• Color LEDs for status monitoring and rapid fault isolation
• Management (monitor, control and configuration):
o Web Interface
o Terminal Interface
o Telnet
o TFTP for remote field software/firmware upgrade
o SNMP V2 (Private and MIB II) Support (Future)

The IS provides the following performance characteristics:

1.4 Configuration
The IS enables MPEG-2-based content (video, audio and data) to be scrambled using the
Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) Common Scrambling Algorithm (CSA) over an
Asynchronous Serial Interface (ASI) carrying transport streams while removing
unwanted programs.
The IS is designed for integration with any Conditional Access (CA) system supporting
an Ethernet SimulCrypt Interface. The capabilities of the IS are depicted in Figure 1-2.
