This User's Guide describes the steps required to install the StorCase Data Express
DE200i-SWC160 removable enclosure inside of a computer peripheral bay or external chassis.
This guide supplements documentation provided with the host computer system, operating
system, and the drive to be installed within the carrier.
General Description
The StorCase Technology Data Express
®
DE200i-SWC160 is composed of a receiving frame
which supports SCSI Ultra160 interfaces and fits within a 5.25" half-height peripheral slot. This
16-bit I/O can support up to 160MByte/sec transfer rates. The receiving frame contains one
(1) removable drive carrier designed to provide durable and reliable mounting for one (1) 3.5"
form factor Single Connector Attachment (SCA) SCSI drive (Figure 2).
The DE200i-SWC160 allows a drive to be removed and transported to another
DE200i-SWC160-equipped computer or expansion chassis, and also provides the ability to
secure sensitive data by removing and storing the drive safely for future use.
The DE200i-SWC160 was specifically designed for use in high shock and vibration environ-
ments (e.g. aircraft) which may also have non-PVC material requirements. The
DE200i-SWC160 is equipped with manual lockdown thumbscrews to secure the drive carrier
within its receiving frame. Two field-replaceable fans in the front of the drive carrier provide
enhanced heat dissipation (7.0 CFM total). Refer to Appendix D for further information.
NOTES: For SCSI Ultra160 operation, the DE200i-SWC160 requires Ultra160 chassis and
cabling.
DE200i-SWC160 can support implementations with a maximum of 15 drives (for
enhanced, bus-isolating hot swap capability, the DX1/200-SWC160/RH Isolator
Board is required). Contact StorCase for further information.
