Installing or Upgrading the Applications
All the necessary applications have been preinstalled and configured at the
factory. However, you may have to upgrade some applications when new
versions become available or to reinstall them.
Note: Only administrator-level users can install software under Windows
Embedded Standard.
From the DVD that came with your unit, you can create an installation USB
key in case you ever need to reinstall Mini ToolBox (the software that
comes with your platform) and the module applications as well as Update
Manager. All the necessary files will be copied to the USB key.
Each time you purchase a new module, you will also receive a DVD with
which you could create a new installation USB key. It could be a good idea
to verify that the most recent Update Manager application is installed on
your unit.
When updates are available for an application, you will need to download
them from Internet, either directly on your unit or on a computer. In the
latter case, you will need to transfer the update files to your unit
(see Managing Data on page 121). The update files must be copied to the
location that has been specified for the deployment packages in Update
Manager.
