Firmware  Update

Provided that you have completed warranty registration for your LBR4 on our website, we will notify you
as new firmware updates become available. The notification will contain the announcement of new
firmware, issues corrected, and instructions on how to retrieve the update files.

Update packages will be available as a single .ZIP file for download. Compatible archive programs
include Winzip (www.winzip.com) or WinRAR (www.rarlabs.com) and may be downloaded from their
respective websites. The update package will contain two .bin files: dsp2541.bin and dsp2641.bin in the
BoxFirmware folder, firmdownGUI.exe, and readme.txt. ***(IMPORTANT – DO NOT REMOVE THE
.BIN FILES FROM THE BOXFIRMWARE FOLDER)***
Firmware updating is accomplished via UDP Port 44600. Updating can be accomplished over an
enabled DHCP network or by using a crossover cables directly connected to one PC if an enabled
DHCP network does not exist. If your PC has multiple network interface adapters, each additional
adapter will need to be disabled before attempting to upgrade your unit. You may also wish to disable
your firewall during the upgrade process. For additional support with networking, please contact your
network administrator.

DO NOT UNPLUG THE UNIT OR TURN OFF YOUR PC WHILE THE FLASH IS IN PROGRESS. If the
flash procedure is interrupted before it can complete, LBR4 may be left in an un-usable state and will
need to be returned for factory service.

LBR4 has two DSP’s. Each will require a separate load to update. The main 2541.bin is for the main
DSP and the 2641.bin is for the AE Module (Audio Express Module)

Please follow these steps to upgrade your unit, unless directed otherwise from DaySequerra:

1. Un-Zip the files using a compatible utility that can handle ZIP archive file format into a new

empty directory on your PC.

2. Unplug the LBR4.

Ensure that a network cable is plugged into the LBR4

Ethernet port on the

rear panel. Press and hold the ENTER button while plugging the unit in at the same time.
Release the ENTER button after power has been applied to the unit. This will put LBR4 into
safe mode and ready to update. If a network is present an IP Address will populate on the
homescreen.

3. On your PC double click on FirmdownGUI.exe to load the DS-Firmdown application. Once

open click on SCAN NETWORK to find the LBR4. The unit will populate within a list of available
TV boxes on the network. Highlight the item by clicking on it and click UPDATE. (Figure 12)
The homescreen of the LBR4 will say FLASH ERASING and begin to program. The updates
progress is displayed at the bottom of the DS-Firmdown app. Once the update is complete the
following message is displayed “Update Successfully Done”. (Figure 13) The LBR4 will
automatically re-boot once the update is complete.

4. Unplug the LBR4 and re-enter Safe Mode by holding in the ENTER button while plugging the

unit into a power source. Once the IP address populates select AE Module at the top of the list
to program next. (Figure 14) A screen will display ‘AE Module Upgrade’, putting the LBR4 in a
ready state to program the AE Module

5. Follow step 3 scanning the network for the LBR4 and AE module this time. Once LBR4-AE

populates you may select and click UPDATE. Update progress is displayed at the bottom of the
window. Once compete the message “Update Successfully Done” will appear. Note that the
LBR4 will not re-boot itself after programming the AE Module. The user must power cycle the
unit manually.

6. Close the DS-Firmdown app.
