FUEL REQUIREMENTS
The “NP" series generator is equipped with a liquefied petro­
leum (LP) gas fuel system. LP gas is usually supplied as a
liquid in pressuré tanks.
“NP” series generators require a “vapor withdrawal” type fuel
system. This type of gaseous fuel system uses the vapors form­
ing above the liquid fuel in the storage tank. Air temperature
around the storage tank must be high enough to sustain ade­
quate fuel vaporization. In colder climates, you may need to
use an independent heat source to be sure the fuel suffi-
cently vaporizes in the storage tank.
LP gas may consist of propane, butane or mixture of two
gases. Propane vaporizes at temperatures as low as -20^
(-29®C), but butane returns to its liquid state when the tem-
perture drops below about 32°F (0“C). For that reason, a
higher ratio of propane is desired in the gas mixture when tem­
peratures drop below freezing.
ENGINE OIL REQUIREMENTS
Use a high quality detergent oil classified “For Service SP and
with an oil viscosity rating of SAE10W-30 oil. Do not pour in
any additives to the recommended oil. Engine crankcase
capacity is 1.5 U.S. quarts (1.4 liters). See MAINTENANCE
section for oil level check and filing procedures.
