MEASURES BEFORE USE OF A NEW

VERTICAL SCARIFIER

• Read the instruction manual thoroughly.

• Observe that you as operator can be held personally

responsible for injury to others.

PERSONAL SAFETY EQUIPMENT

During operation of the vertical scarifier you should use:

• Protective glasses or visor.

• Stout, non-slip shoes.

SAFETY-EQUIPMENT

Electrical safety

WARNING!

The verticsd scarifier can be-

connecterf to any single-phase supply
socket fitted with at least a 10 A time-lag
fuse. The mains voltage must be the same .
as the motor's rated voltage - 240 V.

• Electric cables and sockets must be designed for outside

use.

• The electric cable must be checked regularly for damage

and / or ageing affects.

• The machine may not be used unless the cable is in good

condition.

• The vertical scarifier is double-insulated thus requiring no

extra protective earthing.

• The machine is fitted with a cable supportsystem.

• The extension cable Is to be mounted as shown in illus. 3.

• The extension cable should be designed for outside use,

have a cross - sectional area of at least 1 mm ^ and be of
splashproof design, (e.g. H05RN-F or similar.)

' Switzerland: The vertical scarifier must always be connected

to an'earth leak trip.

The motor is maintenance free and protected against over­

loading by an overload protector built into the on/otf switch.

This protector is actuated if the machine jams. Release the

on /off switch, disconnect the plug from the supply socket

.and remove the object which caused the jamming. When

the switch is returned to the operating position the overload
protector is reset.

Always-vdisconnect:the' elec- -

trrcily supply when cleaning the blades

etc. The blades continue rotating after the ;

power is switched off:

GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

• Never use a vertical scarifier with defective covers and

casirigs nor without protective clothing / equipment.

• Use only during daylight.
• Keep children away from the vertical scarifier when it is

connected to the electricity supply.

• ■ So not scarify if people or animals are in the area to be

scarified.

• Never allow people unaware of the safety regulations to

use the vertical scarifier.

• Start the machine carefully according to the instruction's in

the “start” section of the manual.

• Keep your feet a safe distance from the rotating blades.

Always walk behind the machine.

• Keep your bodily parts away from the machine's moveable

part at all times. Never put your hands in the ejection open­
ing.

• Keep the cable away from the blades.

• If the blades hit something hard, release the switch trigger

and disconnect from the supply. Examine the machine,

especially the blades. Check that the blade axle has not
bent. This results in poor balance which can result in the
blades loosening. Repairthe machine before re-use.

• Never transport the machine with the motor on. If transport

requires that you lift the machine then first check that the

blades have stopped rotating.

• Never lift up the machine or carry it around with the motor

switched on.

• Never leave the machine without first having disconnected

the plug from the socket. Make sure the machine is stored
safely.

• The switch trigger may not be locked when in the start

mode.

• Never attempt to move the vertical scarifier with ropes or

lines of any sort.

WARNING!

Do not scarify the lawn when

wet or slippy. Mown grass Is damp and

creates a slippery surface. Use stout foot­
wear when :using the machine and always

ensure that you have good footing. Ensure

that the scarifier is in good condition.

Check that the lawn to be scarified is free

from stones, sticks and other objects

which may be thrown from the machine

causing injury to people or darnage to the

machine. AvdiStransport over gravel paths

or similar. Scariiying of steep slopes can

berdangerpus. Never scarify up or down a

steep slope, always traverse across the
slope..;

HANDLE ASSEMBLY .(Illus. 2)

• Pre-assembie the lower handle with the screws, washers

and nuts supplied. Insert into sockets, on the machine

body and tighten the screws.

The cable must hang under the strut.

• Fit the upper handle ensuring that the cable will not be

pinched when the handle is lowered.

• Secure the cable with the supplied clips.
• Ensure that the support roller is in the transport position,

the blades thus clearing the ground during transportation.
