On fabrics that are bulkier or heavier, the
stretch overlock is a better choice than the
overlock. In all methods proceed as you
would for the overlook, see page 45, except
feed the fabric with the bulk to the right.
The stitch is less dense and will prevent soft
stretchy knits from rippling. {Fig, 147)

This stitch may be used on knits and
woven fabrics (Fig. 148) , in areas of
stress as a reinforcement stitch. It is
excellent for curved seams such as arm
holes and crotch seams. For active wear
such as ski pants and girdle fabrics which
endure a lot of stress in bending and
stretching, this stitch may be used for
seaming throughout the garment.

Because this stitch is heavier than an
ordinary straight stitch, it is ideal for
topstitching, particularly on knits. {Fig,
