Configure the other settings as required on the AP. The table below explains the
other settings.

Configuring the Dial-Up System

To configure the Dial-up System, (assuming the PPP, serial port, and answer mode
are enabled on the AP), follow the procedure below.

1 Attach a null-modem serial cable from the AP to the modem.

2 Verify the modem connects to the telephone line and has power. Refer to the

modem documentation for information on verifying device power.

3 Start the communication program from the remote terminal.

4 Select the correct serial port along with the following parameters:

Emulation—ANSI

Baud rate—19200 bps

Data bits—8

Stop bits—1

Parity—none

Flow control—none

5 Dial out to the AP with the appropriate telephone number. No password is required.

6 Press Esc to refresh the display.

The AP displays the Main Menu.

Hanging Up

To hang up from the UI while a call is still connected:

1 Select Special Functions from the Main Menu.

2 Select Modem Hangup.

Setting

Description

Answer Wait Time

The time waiting for a remote
connection before dropping the
attempt. The default is 60 seconds.

Modem Speaker

AP sends a command to the modem to
turn on/off the modem speaker. The
default is On.

Inactivity Timeout

The inactivity time on the UI that causes
the AP to terminate the connection
while using a modem. The default is 5
minutes. A value of zero indicates no
time-out.
