Safety instructions
Read the safety instructions in this manual before operating the instrument for the first
time. This operating manual is an integral component of the instrument. Failure to
operate the instrument in accordance with this manual shall render all product liability
and/or warranty claims null and void.
If you pass this instrument to somebody else, make sure to include these instructions.

Defects and extraordinary loads.
If safe operation can no longer be presumed, shut down the device and secure it
against unintended operation.
•
The device must be presumed unsafe to operate:
- if visible damage is evident,
- if the instrument is no longer working,
- if it has been stored for long periods under adverse conditions.
•
The instrument must be connected to a mains socket equipped with a properly
functioning protective earth (PE) conductor. If the PE conductor is absent or faulty,
the instrument will not comply with safety and EMC requirements.
•
Before starting the instrument, you must ensure that the mains voltage given on
the mains input socket matches the supply voltage in the building where the
instrument is being installed (for voltages, see type plate on mains input socket or
refer to technical data).
•
Never perform any mechanical or electrical repairs on the instrument. The
instrument may only be opened at service centres authorised by BYK-Gardner.
•
To disconnect the measuring instrument from the mains, pull the power plug out of
the mains socket. Make sure that the mains socket is readily accessible and only
use the supplied power cable.
•
Always disconnect the instrument from the mains before replacing lamps or fuses.
Allow the lamp to cool down before replacing it and only use fuses that have been
approved by the manufacturer.
Do not dispose this product together with your household waste. Please refer to
the information or your local community or contact your dealer regarding the
proper handling of end-of-life electric and electronic equipment.
