Liquid Color Standards
•
Consists of sturdy rack with 18 tubes of colored fluids in numbered
positions
•
A panel of frosted glass behind tubes provides background of
diffuse white light
•
Two models are available:
without illumination use sunlight from window or indoor light
with illumination fluorescent tube behind glass panel
•
Solutions are standardized at 25°C, but evaluations between 20°C
and 30°C are substantially correct
How to determine color numbers?
How to replace the lamp?
•
The liquid to be tested must be transparent, non-cloudy
•
Pour test liquid into empty color comparison tube and
properly seal the tube
•
Insert tube between standards which appear closest in color
•
Determine if color appears equal to, slightly more, or slightly
less than color of adjoining standards
•
Express conclusion mathematically:
identical to 14

slightly darker than 14, much lighter than 15 14+
slightly lighter than 14

between 14 and 15

•
Remove the power cord
•
Let the lamp cool down to avoid injuries
•
Open top cover
•
Twist the lamp ¼ turn and lift it from the end fixtures
•
Replace with a new lamp
