FA212

Operation

The FA212 will act as 2 separate transmitters. Pressing either
button by itself will cause the transmitter to activate the point ID
assigned (Base ID). Pressing both buttons simultaneously
activates the Base ID + 1.

Activation signals are transmitted multiple times, and are
indicated by the blinking transmission indicator LED.

Messages will be interrupted if one type is being sent and the
other type is activated. E.g., if one button is pressed the
transmitter will send the Base ID. If both buttons are then
pressed simultaneously while the red LED is still blinking, the
transmitter will stop sending the Base ID and start sending the
Base ID + 1.

Note: The FA212 does not send restoral signals; i.e., it only
transmits activations. The receiver should, therefore, be
programmed for momentary outputs.

Programming the FA212 to FA416 or FA464 Receivers

1.

Using an FA116 or FA104 programmer, program outputs to be
Momentary. Set momentary value between 7 and 16 seconds.

2.

Points assigned to the FA212 must be sequential: 1-2, 4-5, etc.

3.

Program the first point using the following criteria:

External Contact= Normally Open

Use EOL

= No

Internal

Contact=

No

Check-in Time= 60 seconds recommended

Output to Use= As desired.

4.

Connect the FA212 to the programming wire on the FA116.

5.

While connected, press the reset button on the FA212. The
programmer will “ping” and the display will acknowledge that the
point was programmed successfully.

6.

Disconnect the programming cable from the FA212.

7.

Program and activate the next sequential point using the
following criteria:

External Contact= Normally Open

Use EOL

= No

Internal

Contact=

No

Check-in

Time=

None

Output to Use= As desired

8.

Press “A” to activate this second point ID. DO NOT PLUG THE
TRANSMITTER IN A SECOND TIME!

9.

Test the transmitter by activating it in both modes.

Attention: Inovonics recommends that the FA212 be

programmed as a supervised device

if used for life safety applications.

Optional Mounting

If desired, the FA212 can be screw-mounted to a fixed surface. Drill
through-holes (.200" max diameter) in the back housing cover in
locations shown below. Wood screws used to mount the transmitter
should be size #8 or smaller. Screw head height must be less than
.150". Larger screw heads may cause short-circuits on the unit
