Playing Your PoitaSound

Set the POWER ON/OFF switch

to ON, to turn on the power of the
PortaSound, When the power is on, the Voice mode is automatically selected
and the PIANO Voice is called up.
To conserve battery power, always turn the PortaSound off when not in use.

das Instrument autr)matisch die Stimme PIANO.

nicht benutzen.

Your PortaSound has two different operating modes: Voice and Song. Switch
between the two modes by pressing the VOICE/SONG Mode button
O.
(The
LTD of the .selected mode lights.)
In the Voice mode, you can select and play a Voice. In the Song mode, you can
select and play either a Song or a Jam Track pattern.
Ihr PortaSound kann auf zwei verschiedenen Arten oder “Modi” gespielt werden:
VOICE und SONG. Die Umschaltung zwischen den beiden Modi erfolgt mit der
Modus-Taste VOtCE/SONG

Im Voice-Modus können Sie eine Stimme wälilen und spielen. Im Song-Modus können
Sie entweder ein Demonstrationsstück oder ein Jam Track Pattern wählen und spielen.

The PoirtaSound features 25 different instrument Voices, each of them witfi three
additional Variations. Depending on the Voice selected, the Variations apply
special harmonies, sustain or echo effects to the Voice.

Make sure that the Voice mode is selected. Press the VOICE/
SOJVG Mode button O until the green VOICE LED lights.
Select die desired Voice the \^ICE/SONG Select buttons 0 .
Press the button corresponding to the appropriate section of Voices. For
example, to select the FOI.,K CiUlTAR Voice, press VOICE/SONG Select
button below the sectirjn containing "FOI^K GUITAR” {the second button
from the left).
To select other Voices in the same section, pre.ss the VOICE/SONG Select
button of that section rei-Xiatedly until you hear the sound of the desired
Voice, (F.ach press of the button plays a single note of the selected Voice, so
that you can "audition” the Voice.)
To select a Variation of the Voice, press the VARIATION button
{the VOICE/SONG Select button on the far right, in the VARIA­
TION section).

Each press of the button cycles through the Norma! Voice and its Variations
(1, 2 and 3), As with Voice selection, each press of the button plays a note,
letting you "audition” the Variations.
Spielen auf Ihrem PortaSound
Das PortaSound bietet Zugriff auf 25 Instrunienlen-Stimmen (VOICES), von denen
jede wietiemm drei zusätzliche Variationen besitzt. Abhängig von der gewählten
Stimme fügen die Variations-Stimnren der Originalstimme Ijesondere Harmonien,
Sustain- oder Echo-Effekte hinzu.
Überzeugen Sie sieb davon, daß der VOICE-Modtis gewählt ist.
Drücken Sie die VOICE/SONG-Modustaste O, bis die grüne VOICE
LED aufleuchtet.
Wählen Sie die gewünschte Stimme mit den VOICE/SONG-Wahltaaien C
Drücken Sie die Taste, die der gewün seti ten Stimmeri-Sektion entspricht. Wenn
Sie znm Beispiel die Gitarrenstimme FOLK GUITAR wählen möchten, drücken
Sie die VOICE./SONG-Wahitasten unterhalb der Sektion, die T O I G U I T A R ”
enthält (die zweite Taste von links).
Um eine andere Stimme in derselben Sektion zu wählen, drucken Sie die VOICE/
SONG-Wahltasten der betreffenden Sektion, bis Sie den Klang der gewünschten
Stimme hören, (Bei jedem Druck auf die Taste wird ein einzelner Ton der
gewählten Stimme gespielt, so da(i Sie die betreffende Stimme “probehören’’
können.)
Um eine Variation der Stimme zu wählen, drücken Sie die Taste
VARIATION (die VOICE/SONG-Wahltasten ganz rechts, in der Sektion
VARIATION).
Jeder Druck auf diese Taste schaltet durch die Stimme in ihrer normalen Form
und deren Variationen ( 1 , 2 und 3) weiter. Wie bereits bei der Auswahl der
Stimme, wird bei jedem Druck auf die Taste ein eirizelner Ton gespielt, so daß Sie
die Variationen “probehören” können.

Adjusting the Volume
Adjust the volume of the Voice by using the VOLUME button O.
Each press of the button increa,ses the volume or decreases it. (A high-pitched
“click” indicates an increa.se, wfiile a low-pitched “click” indicates a decrease.)
To quickly set the volume to maximum (or minimum), press and hold down the
VOLUME button to step rapidly through the “clicks." (If the “click” pitch is high,
the volume is being increased toward the maximum; a low pitch means it is being
decreased toward the minimum.) When the click sound stops, the volume is at

Einstellen der Lautstärke
Sie können die Lautstärke des Stücks mit den VOLUME-Taste O einstellen.
Mit jedem Dmck auf die Taste erhötien Sie die Lautstärke oder vermindern sie, (Ein
hohes “Klicken” zeigt an, daß sie l.autstärke erhöht und ein tiefes “Klicken”, daß sie
vermindert wird.)
Um die Lautstärke rasch auf den höchsten (oder niedrigsten) Wert einzustellen, halten
Sie die VOLUME-Taste gedrückt und schalten dadurch rasch durch die “Kiiektöne".
(Wenn das “Klicken” mit lioher Frequenz erklingt, wird die Lautstärke zum
Maximalwert hin erhöht, und wenn es mit niedriger Frequenz ertönt, zum
Minimalwert.) Wenn der klickende Ton stoppt, ist die Lautstärke auf den höchsten
