Troubleshooting
The following topics provide troubleshooting hints for common AV8OR 3D problems. If you need further
assistance, contact your nearest Bendix/King dealer.
AV8OR 3D gets stuck waiting for a GPS
signal, or the main display quits and waits
for GPS.
Make sure that the GPS antenna is securely
screwed into the INU.
Find a better position for the GPS antenna. GPS
satellites may be anywhere in the sky.
Try to eliminate interference from other avionics.
INU not found.
Be sure that the INU is powered on with the blue
light flashing, then check for possible Bluetooth
interference.
In AV8OR 3D, choose Menu: Cfg: INU/Simu: and
click Reset to un-pair the INU from the Samsung.
Then shut down and restart AV8OR 3D. When the
INU ID is displayed, click Select to re-pair the
INU and the Tablet PC.
Weather data is not displayed.
Be sure that the WxWorx receiver is plugged in
to power. (It has no battery or power switch.)
The blue light should be flashing.
Wait. It takes time to connect to the WxWorx,
and several minutes or more of good reception to
download a full set of data from the satellite.
Note that very light clouds may not be displayed.
The first time you start AV8OR 3D with WxWorx,
choose Menu: Cfg: XM Info: and click Start to
start the WxWorx radio. Later starts with the
same equipment should find the WxWorx
automatically.
If the problem persists, it may be poor XM
reception. Choose Menu: Cfg: XM Info: and
look at the XM Signal status display. If the
signal is not good, try a different antenna
position. The XM satellite is geosynchronous,
over the equator, in the southern sky from the
USA.
Weather data is displayed, but does not
update.
Suspect poor XM reception. The antenna may no
longer have a good view of the South.
Check that the WxWorx receiver still has power.
AV8OR 3D is slow or gets “stuck.”
Other software may be running. Be sure that
virus scanners and other added software are
turned off in flight.
Check your GPS reception. Choose Menu: Cfg:
GPS: to see the satellite bars. Marginal GPS
signals may cause hiccups.
Altitudes near and above 10,000 MSL may cause
hard disk failure, unless you are using the Solid
State Disk model of the Samsung, or are in a
pressurized aircraft.
AV8OR 3D 3D view is unstable or shows
vibration.
Check that the INU is securely mounted.
Some attitude instability may be expected at taxi
speeds, and some engines vibrate a lot at idle.
If the view is consistently under-damped,
increase damping by choosing Menu: Cfg:.
Scroll right to Advanced: and increase the
attitude damping.
The default is 0. Try 200 ms to start.
If the view is too sluggish, reduce the damping.
AV8OR 3D shuts down.
Check that aircraft power is still reaching the
Samsung and the INU.
A power cable may have come loose and the
Samsung or INU rechargeable battery may have
run down.
Screen too dim (or too bright at night).
In AV8OR 3D, adjust brightness with the top
central button.
In the Windows desktop, use the Motion
Dashboard display brightness setting.
Cannot activate an approach.
Some approaches are not yet digitized in the
database, so they cannot be flown with Synthetic
Vision. AV8OR 3D engineers are hard at work
digitizing more approaches.

Warning: AV8OR 3D is not to be used as a primary navigation reference. It is designed to be an aid to situational awareness and to
provide a backup reference in case of electrical or primary instrument failure.
