Selecting the Frame Rate
You can select from the following frame rates depending on the recording mode:
60i, 30F, 24F (2:3 pulldown-converted)
60i, 30F, 24F (2:3 pulldown-converted or 2:3:3:2 pulldown-converted)
60i Mode
Records 60 interlaced fields per second, the same as standard-definition TV signals.
30F Mode
Records 30 frames per second according to HDV
native 1080/30p specifications. For playback, the
signal is converted to 60i but video output from the
HDV/DV terminal will be 30p.
The picture captured by the camera at 30 frames
per second is converted and recorded on the tape as
60i.
24F Mode
Records 24 frames per second according to HDV native
1080/24p specifications, creating a true cinematic feel
to the picture.
Video output from the HDV/DV terminal will be 24p.
For playback and video output from the HD/SD SDI
terminal (
only) and the HD/SD COMPONENT
OUT terminal, the signal will be down-converted to 60i
using the 2:3 pulldown method.
24F (2:3) Mode
Signals are down-converted to 60i using the 2:3
pulldown method. This 24F mode is suited for
playback on a TV screen but may require the
extension/compression of some frames while editing.
24F (2:3:3:2) Mode
Signals are down-converted to 60i using the 2:3:3:2
pulldown method. This 24F mode is ideal for
extracting true 24 frames per second in order to
transfer to film simply by discarding the 3:3 adjacent
frames (bc and fg in the figure).
