Rail
Boss User Operations Guide
Double-Draft Mode
Double draft mode will weigh one set of rail trucks (all
four wheels) at a time. This is optimal for rail cars that
do not fit on the
Rail
Boss Railroad Track Scale
or for
installations consisting of only one four-rail section.
See Figures 3 and 4 on page 3 for double-draft and
full-draft illustrations.
Double-Draft Weighments (One Four-Rail Section)
Double-draft weighments using one four-rail section
can be used with either a single- or dual-channel analog
input card installed in the
920i
.
1. Ensure the first softkey on the
920i
is displayed
as
Using Double Draft
(see Figure 1).
2. The rail car’s first set of rail trucks (all four
wheels) are positioned on the
Ra il
Boss
Railroad Track Scale
.
3. To enter a Rail Car ID, press the
Enter ID
soft
key.
4. To enter a tare (optional), if the rail car has a
known tare value, press the
Enter Tare
soft key
and use the keypad to enter the value.
To capture the tare weight of Rail Truck #1,
press the
TARE
key.
Note
The tare weight will be displayed on the
920i
. If the
tare was entered using the Enter Tare soft key and
keypad, (Keyed) will appear after the tare weight.This
is the tare weight of the entire rail car. If a tare was
captured, it is only the weight of Rail Truck #1 and will
need to be captured for Rail Truck #2 as well.
To abort the ticket at any point, press the Abort Ticket
soft key.
5. Press the
Capture Rail Truck 1
softkey to weigh
the first set of rail trucks.
The weight will appear under Rail Truck #1.
6. The rail car’s second set of rail trucks (all four
wheels) are positioned on the
Ra il
Boss
Railroad Track Scale
.
7. If a tare was captured in Step 4, capture the tare
weight of Rail Truck #2 by pressing the
TARE
key.
8. Press the
Capture Rail Truck 2
softkey to weigh
the second set of rail trucks.
The weight will appear under Rail Truck #2.
9. The gross, tare, and net values are displayed on
the
920i
.
10. Press the
key to print the double-draft
weigh ticket.
Double-Draft Weighments (Two Four-Rail Sections)
A dual-channel analog input card must be installed in
the
920i
to perform double-draft weighments using two
four-rail sections. See Figures 3 and 4 on page 3 for
double-draft and full-draft illustrations.
1. Ensure the first softkey on the
920i
is displayed
as
Using Double Draft
(see Figure 1).
2. The rail car’s first set of rail trucks (all four
wheels) are positioned on the first set of
RailBoss
rail sections. The rail car’s second set
of rail trucks (all four wheels) are positioned
on the second set of
RailBoss
rail sections.
3. The
920i
displays the live weight for both
scales; and the gross, tare, and net weights for
the current rail truck.
4. To enter a Rail Car ID, press the
Enter ID
soft
key.
5. If the rail car has a known tare value, press the
Enter Tare
soft key and use the keypad to enter
the value.
Alternatively, to capture the tare weight of the
rail truck, press the
TARE
key.
Note

both scales.
8. If a tare was captured in Step 5, capture the tare
weight of Rail Truck #2 by pressing the
TARE
key.
9. Press the
Capture Rail Truck 2
softkey to weigh
the second set of rail trucks.
The weight will appear under Rail Truck #2.
10. The
920i
will display the captured rail truck
weights for each rail truck, and the total gross,
tare, and net weights of the rail car.
11. Press the
key to print the double-draft
weigh ticket.
