Removing and Reseating 0-rings
1
Remove the 0-rings from their
channels.
—Use a thin plastic card, such as the
SB-104’s exposure calculation chart, to
remove 0-rings.
—Do not use metal items with sharp edges
that may damage the 0-rings.
2
Check the 0-rings to be sure they are
not damaged.
—Wipe the 0-rings and 0-ring channeis
with a ciean cioth or tissue, and check
them for any damage.
—Do not use a cloth or tissue which
contains lint.
—If 0-ring channels are damaged, please
contact a Nikon service center.
}
Apply lubricant to the 0-rings.
—With your fingertip, smear a small
amount of 0-ring lubricant over the entire
surface of the 0-rings.
—This makes the 0-rings slip more easily
into the 0-ring channels.
Do not apply
too much lubricant to the surface of
the 0-ring as this will not help make
a better seal, and can cause an
unwanted build-up of excess
lubrication which will attract sand
and dirt.
»Caution
• Feel for any damage on the 0-rings while
applying the lubricant. If damage is found,
replace the 0-ring with a new one.
•Take care that lint, hair, or other foreign
matter does not remain on the 0-rings or
their channels.
• Use 0-ring lubricant available from Nikon.
If a lubricant made by another
manufacturer is used, it may adversely
affect the 0-ring and result in water leaks.
