The EFP protects the KTM exhaust flange from

damage should the exhaust pipe receive an impact.

[1] Flange Protector, [2] M6x40 Bolts, [1] M6x12 Bolt

Exhaust flange before any modifications.

(2009 KTM 300 XCW model pictured.)

1. Removal of exhaust system:

A. Remove springs and spring hanger tab.

B. Remove the exhaust pipe.

C. Remove the 2 flange bolts (bolts only.)

Exhaust system removed.

Finished installation.

Flange protector, slowly “seated.”

3. Next, “seat” the flange protector and start working

in the two M6x40 bolts (use thread locking compound.)

The spring hanger tab must be sandwiched precisely

as shown above. Snug the long bolts, then loosen

them a little and add the M6x10 bolt. Slowly tighten

the three bolts until the flange protector is seated

properly. A misaligned flanged protector will not offer

protection. The protector should be parallel to the face

of the flange, with the face of the flange raised slightly.

4. Install exhaust pipe. There is a green O-ring gasket

on the end of the exhaust pipe; replace it if it becomes

cracked or torn.

2. Clean everything in the header and the exhaust

port area. If present, remove old thread locking

compound (use a small amount of heat or a wire brush

to remove thread locking compound.)
