Before starting the computer, remove the battery. There is a charge gauge on the bat-
tery that tells you how much power remains in the battery. To activate the charge
gauge, press the button next to the battery connector. Lights on the charge gauge
light up to indicate the amount of charge in the battery. The more lights that light up,
the more charge the battery has.

You can also double-click on the battery icon in the Windows 98 taskbar for informa-
tion on battery power. If you are using the AC adapter, the battery icon does not

If your monitor is flashing different colors when you change screens, follow these
steps:
1.
Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2.
In the Control Panel, double-click the Display icon. Then click the Settings tab.
3.
In the Colors box, select High Color (16 bit) or True Color (32 bit). Then click OK.
4.
In the Compatibility Warning window, click the Apply the settings without
restarting? radio button, and then click OK.
5.
When prompted, click OK to adjust the display.
6.
When prompted, click Yes to accept the changes.
