If required, the system reboots after the installation is complete.
Using The Dell PowerVault DL Backup To Disk Appliance Recovery And Update Utility For
System Repair
The Dell PowerVault DL Backup to Disk Appliance Recovery and Update Utility can be used to repair or update the Dell
PowerVault DL Backup to Disk Appliance applications in a non-disaster recovery scenario. For more information, see
Updating DL Backup To Disk Appliance Applications .
Repairing OpenManage Server Administrator
Dell OpenManage Server Administrator is a system management application that is helpful in viewing overall system
hardware health. It monitors the health of the appliance’s internal and external disk groups.
NOTE: In a disaster recovery scenario, Server Administrator is installed in the steps defined in Using the Dell
PowerVault DL Backup to Disk Appliance Recovery and Update Utility During Disaster Recovery; therefore, the
following steps would not be necessary.
To repair server administrator:
1. Verify that the version is supported in the Dell PowerVault DL Backup to Disk Appliance Interoperability Guide ,
before installing Server Administrator.
2. Install Server Administrator using the Dell Systems Management Tools and Documentation media that shipped with
the system.
3. If the Server Administrator installation process does not begin automatically, run autorun.exe located in the root
folder of the media and proceed to step 5.
4. If you have misplaced the media, download the Server Administrator Managed Node application from
support.dell.com/support/downloads and follow the installation instructions on the download page.
5. Select Dell OpenManage Server Administrator for standalone server management and click Install.
The Server Administrator installer runs a compatibility check to confirm that no conditions prevent installation.
6. Select Repair or Modify Installation.
The installer completes the repair.
Reinstalling CommVault Simpana Backup And Recovery During
Disaster Recovery
The Dell PowerVault DL Backup to Disk Appliance Recovery and Update Utility guides you through the installation of
CommVault Simpana Backup and Recovery software, in a disaster recovery scenario.
The following prerequisites must be met before reinstallation:
• Locate the CommVault Simpana Backup and Recovery installation media that came with the appliance.
