Installing a Media Card Reader
CAUTION:
Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions
located in the Product Information Guide.
NOTICE:
To prevent static damage to components inside your computer, discharge static electricity
from your body before you touch any of your computer’s electronic components. You can do so by
touching an unpainted metal surface on the computer chassis.
1 Follow the procedures in "Before You Begin" on page 53.
2 Lay the computer on its side so that the system board is on the bottom of the inside of the
computer.
3 Remove the computer cover (see page 59).
4 Remove the drive panel (see page 76).
5 Remove the Media Card Reader and bracket from its packaging.
6 Ensure that the Media Card Reader is installed before the FlexBay USB cable is connected.
NOTE:
Connect the USB cable on the back of the Media Card Reader to the front panel USB connector
on the system board (see page 61).
7 Make sure the FlexBay USB cable is connected to the back of the Media Card Reader.
