When separation is complete, RNA fragments are identified as peaks in the electropherograms
and as bands in the virtual gel. The results of data analysis are also tabulated and presented
in a Results table at the end of analysis. The types of data available include the following:
• Concentration (in ng/µl or pg/µl, depending on the kit used)
• % rRNA contamination (mRNA analysis)
• 28S/18S (eukaryotic) or 23S/16S (prokaryotic) ratio (total RNA analysis)
• % of Total area
Results table generated by RNA HighSens analysis of mRNA. Note that whereas the mRNA assay
indicates rRNA contamination, the total RNA assay shows the ribosomal ratio, as shown in Fig. 1.9.
