FRONT PANEL
DESCRIPTION
The Trusted
TM
TMR Zone Interface
Module (Zone Interface) is designed to
allow the connection of input and output
signals from one or more fire zones to
be connected to a single module with
fault tolerance. The Zone Interface is a
universal input/output (I/O) module
capable of connecting to up to 40
channels which may be a mixture of fire
detector , contact and analogue inputs,
or digital outputs. Channels are
arranged in five groups of eight. All
channels within a group share a
common power source and return.
Each power group can have its own
loop reset facility for control of power to
latching fire detector loops. Fault
tolerance is achieved through Triple
Modular Redundancy (TMR) within the
same module for each of the 40 output
channels.
The Zone Interface connects to the field
circuits via a Versatile Field Termination
Assembly (VFTA). The VFTA allows
the user to link configure an appropriate
electrical loop which matches the
channel type selected in the module
configuration. he module provides on-
board Sequence of Events (SOE)
reporting input and output events with a
resolution of 1ms.
Each triplicated section (slice) of the
module, sends/receives data to/from
the Trusted
TM
TMR Processor. All data
is voted by an internal safety layer
hardware voter. Each slice uses the
voted data to control the outputs.
Outputs consist of a six-element voted
array. The output switch array
provides fault tolerant, uninterrupted
control under an output switch failure
condition. Inputs are conditioned and
processed by triplicated ADCs (part of
the OFIU) which are provided for each
channel. Each channel selected as an
analogue input may also have
programmable thresholds for alarm
level detection.
LED indication is provided for module
and channel status. Channel status
LEDs are configurable for colour (red,
amber, green) and condition (off, on,
flashing) to suit industry standards.
When a fault is detected, the Trusted
TM
TMR Processor will flag the unhealthy
condition, indicating the need to replace
the module. Control continues until a
replacement
(healthy)
module
is
available. Replacement modules can be
located in a Companion Slot next to the
faulty module or in a designated
SmartSlot with a temporary connection
to the faulty module.
Each output is user configurable to
perform
line
monitoring
of
the
connected field devices to detect field
wiring and load failures. Automatic
over-current protection is inherent in
every output circuit which eliminates the
need for fuses.
Modules may be placed in any I/O slot
in a Trusted
TM
Processor Chassis or
Expander chassis. Mechanical keying is
available on all I/O modules Once
configuration has been set, module may
only be inserted in the correct slot.
Configuration of the module is carried
out using the IEC1131 TOOLSET
running on an Engineering Workstation.
Once configured and loaded into the
Trusted
TM
Controller,
replacement
modules are on-line educated by the
TMR Processor.
