Attaching the Cable Bracket
Follow this procedure to attach the bracket to any axis position at the bottom or top of the
power rail. When possible, attach the brackets before mounting the power rail.
1.
Position the bracket over the two mounting holes above or below a power rail slot
occupied by a Kinetix 2000 Integrated Axis Module (IAM) or Axis Module (AM).
2.
Insert two M4 x 8 screws to hold the bracket on the power rail, and tighten each
screw to 1.5…2.0 Nm (13…18 lb-in).
3.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each power rail slot occupied by an IAM or AM.
4.
Mount the power rail and the axis modules (IAM and AM).
describes how to mount the power rail in an electrical cabinet. The Kinetix 2000
2093-IN001, describes how to mount the axis modules on a power rail, and provides
publication 2093-UM001, contains wiring diagrams and instructions for typical
5.
Rest the power cable on the bracket with the exposed cable shield centered in the
cradle of the bracket.
If the cable contains additional shielded signal wires, you must ground the shielded
signal wires at the clamp. Loop the entire shielded signal wire through the clamp, if
the overall cable diameter leaves adequate space. The diagram depicts several methods
for connecting power cable, with a shielded signal wires, to the cable bracket.
ATTENTION
Always make effective electrical contact when installing the bracket on the power rail,
and when clamping a cable shield to the bracket.
Keep exposed cable shielding away from conductive surfaces. For example, avoid the
metal ferrules on the SERCOS connectors when routing cables above the Kinetix 2000
modules, and avoid contact with other shields.
Always limit the amount of insulation removed when you expose a shield. When
removing insulation, limit the section of insulation removed to that necessary to make
effective contact with the entire surface of the clamp. Never remove more than 50 mm
(2 in.) of insulation.
TIP
Wire and attach the power connector before you attempt to clamp
the cable shield. This will hold the power cable in position while
you make the shield-to-ground connection.
