7. Connections G and F are used to pass +V DC power (G) and -V common
(F) to the next module in the series (if required).
Node Address
Set the node address using the thumbwheel switches on the front of the adapter.
Valid settings range from 00...99. Use the + or - buttons to set the node address.
Set the thumbwheel switches to 00 to allow node addressing by software
configuration tool to set the range from 1 to 125. Address changes take effect only
after cycling power.
GSD Requirements
Current functionality of PROFIBUS adapters requires GSD files. These files are
easy to install and are available online at:
If you want to use a FLEX I/O module not in your GSD file:
1. Go to the GSD website and locate files for the 1794-APBDPV1.
There are two GSD files: One is a standard GSD file with the latest
modules added. The other is a teaching GSD file that teaches your adapter
information required to use the new modules.
2. Load the teaching GSD file into your configuration tool.
This GSD file uses Full format mode.
3. From the list of modules, select the 1794-APBDPV1, then select the first
module that you want to teach.
Add this module in every position after the 1794-APBDPV1.
4. Put the configuration tool in online mode.
The PROFIBUS indicator on the adapter should be solid green and the
Status indicator should be flashing red.
Repeat steps 1…4 for each module that you want to teach.
5. When you have completed the teaching, delete the teaching GSD file from
your configuration tool and load the standard GSD file.
You can now configure the modules as you would your other FLEX I/O
modules.
