NOTE: Delphi® and Magneti Marelli® style S&S® replacement modules are direct stock replacement units.

E. Install Module on Motorcycle

1. Double check the negative battery cable to be sure it is disconnected. Installing the module with the system powered up could cause the

motorcycle to run poorly or not at all.

2. Push the 36-position connector straight onto end of the VFI module until the connector lock clicks into place.
3. Install the ECU in the same location as the stock ECM, using the original mounting screws.
4. Reconnect negative battery cable.

S&S® recommends that you position the main connector of the VFI Module in its stock location for maximum protection against the
elements.

F. Relocation of the Barometric Pressure Sensor (1999-’01)

IMPORTANT: Recent calibrations for 1999-’01 models require relocation of the Barometric Pressure Sensor. Be sure the calibration you are using is
configured to use a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) Sensor before performing the procedure below.

1. S&S manifolds are equipped with a rear manifold hose fitting. If you are using a stock or aftermarket manifold not equipped with a hose

fitting, one must be added downstream of the throttle plate.
a. For independent runner systems, use the supplied #13 drill bit to drill a hole in the top of the rear manifold. Press the supplied hose

fitting into the rear manifold.

b. For common runner systems, a similar procedure can be used. The MAP fitting must be located at the top of the manifold. We recommend

finding a central location where the manifold is relatively thick and the MAP sensor will not interfere with other components. Some
manifolds may already be equipped with a MAP sensor mounting boss or hose fitting. If not use the supplied #13 drill bit to drill a hole
in the top of the manifold. Press the supplied hose fitting into the manifold.

2. Remove the orange OEM rubber sealing grommet from Baro/MAP sensor (if applicable).
3. Cut the supplied hose about 2” long and mount the Baro/MAP sensor on the rear manifold. Attach a zip tie to each end of the Baro/MAP

hose and tighten.

NOTE: The Baro/MAP sensor must be installed on the rear manifold hose fitting for independent runner systems for proper engine operation. Installation
on the front manifold will result in an incorrect signal to the VFI module.

4. Attach the connector to the Baro/MAP sensor.
5. Run the harness along the backbone of the motorcycle to the stock location of the baro sensor. Make sure the harness does not touch any

hot components of the engine.

6. Remove existing stock barometric pressure sensor and connector; the connector will need to be cut off.
