The steering spud shafts come equipped with a male 1" double D.
The male double D provides an excellent yoke connection to the universal yoke. The female splines to the steering box allows the
steering system to be rotated in small increments during installation to properly align or phase the steering system. Once the steering
is set, tighten set screws to mark the shaft. Remove yoke and drill the set point on the shaft. When installing the universal joint,
set screws are tightened into the countersink mark, then tighten the jam nut and the shaft will not move. We recommend the use
of Loctite.
These spud shafts are not designed to be used with the Spice splined yoke that uses a through bolt.
The clamp should be installed over the spud shaft and tightened once the spud shaft is installed on the steering box. Make sure
the clamp has the proper clearance around the front cross member, 360 degrees.
