The components packaged in this kit have been assembled and machined for specific type of conversions. Modifications to any of the components will
void any possible warranty or return privileges. If you do not fully understand modifications or changes that will be required to complete your conversion, we strongly recommend

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
This kit should be limited to new V8 conversions when replacing the AX5 transmission. For existing V8 installations and
6 cylinder applications use Kit No. 50-9809 that is 17-1/4" O.A.L.
The adapter crossmember support is designed around a replacement of the original manual transmission. If you are
replacing an automatic transmission, you will find that the crossmember support will hang too far down when it is bolted
to the bottom of our new adapter housing.
The adapter kit includes a new seal that must be installed into the front side of the New Process transfer case. The seal
will prevent fluid from mingling between the two gear boxes. A gasket must be used between the transfer case and the
adapter housing since we have eliminated the tailhousing seal that was originally in the previous adapter.
The adapter bolt pattern on the transfer case side has been equipped with two sets of bolt patterns. On vehicles 1989 and
newer, the rotation of the transfer case was slightly changed on certain model transmissions.
SPECIAL INSTALLATION NOTE:
The rear output shaft bearing that is located in the back of the transmission main case has an external snap ring around
the outside diameter of the bearing. The snap ring is trapped between the transmission case and the new Advance
Adapter housing. By trapping the snap ring, the main shaft location is held in a firm location and the shaft is prevented
from drifting either forward or rearward. The thickness of the original snap ring varies between a 2WD GM
transmission and a 4WD GM transmission.
Since Advance Adapters uses the same adapter housing for both transmissions, it may be necessary to modify the
thickness of the snap ring for installation with the new adapter housing. This can be done by simply grinding down
the thickness or by doubling up on the gasket between the transmission and the transfer case. Not all applications will
have this problem, but you should be aware of this variation. Two wheel drive transmissions use a thinner snap ring.
