Commissioning
Cautionary notes:
• When environment is bright, do not switch the night vision device on
without the lens protection cap put on. The small hole in that cap enables
observation at daylight without damaging the high-grade intensifier tube or
reducing its performance permanently. We shall not assume any warranty
for damages caused by too intense a light incidence.
•
The phosphor screen of the image intensifier tube works like the picture
tube of a CRT monitor. Fixed motifs are capable of burning into the screen.
In particular, the image intensifier tube is sensitive to lighting spots,
structures, and objects as well as to light sources of any kind. Therefore, a
permanently fixed mounting or alignment of the night vision device will
subject the screen picture to persistent changes, which are not covered by
warranty.
• Laser beams penetrating the night vision device are of particular criticality.
Due to the high intensity, their destruction potential, even for short impact
duration, is very high. The automatic switch-off is not suited to provide
reliable protection against such extreme exposures. Therefore, the user is
required to ensure by her/himself that such exposure will not occur.
Power supply
For power supply, a commercially available 1.5V or 3V cell of the AA, LR6 or Mignon
type is needed. Due to their higher capacity, high cell voltage, optimum suitability for
low temperatures, and good storage capability, we recommend the use of lithium
batteries. Accumulators are less suited for power supply because of their lower cell
voltage. Any other type of power supply is excluded.
Inserting and changing the battery
Unscrew the battery compartment cap (8) from the night vision device and insert the
battery into the battery compartment such that the plus terminal faces to the inside of
the night vision device. To exclude any mix-up, the plus contact is marked with a „+“.
Reversed insertion of the battery will not expose the device’s electronics to any risk.
Switch on/off
The device is both switched on and off by a double-click on the key with the DOCTER
logo (6), i.e. by shortly and firmly pressing it twice in direct succession.
To assure you of the fact that the device is really switched off without looking through
the night vision device, it suffices to keep the touch key depressed for 3 seconds at
least.
Eyecup
The night vision device is fitted with a side light eyecup that prevents light emanated by
the screen of the night vision device from being visible to other persons or observed
animals. Adjust the eyecup such that when using it the lug will show to outside. To this
effect, loosen the ring with the discontinuous knurl, which is located directly in front of
the eyecup (3), by two full turns. Hold the knurled ring firmly in this position and rotate
the eyecup into the position desired. Then screw the ring down into its home position
(screw on loosely). Besides, after loosening the ring, the eyecup can also be pulled out
of the ring, as it is not glued in. To protect the thread, screw the ring on again.
