Your Macintosh comes with sof

gy consumed when you are not using your computer
. The

tware allows you to set the screen to tur
n off af
ter a period of
inactivity
, the length of which you specif
y. The image on the
screen reappears when you move the mouse or press any letter or
number k
ey on the k
eyboard. Because the screen needs to war
m
up, it will tak
e up to 15 seconds for the picture to reappear
.
Tu

ing off the screen conser

gy
. It also protects the
screen from “bur
ning in” images, which can occur if you leave an
unchanging image on the screen for many hours or days.
To
set the screen to tur
n off:
1.
Choose Control P
anels from the Apple (
K
) menu.
2.
Open the Scr
een control panel.
3.
Click the box labeled “
Tur
n off built-in scr
een when
idle.”
4.
Drag the slider to choose the number of minutes until
the scr
een tur
ns off.
For example, if you choose 15 minutes, your screen will
dark
en af
ter your computer has been inactive for 15 minutes.
The image will appear once again, exactly as you lef
t it, if you
move the mouse or press any letter or number on the
keyboard. Because the screen needs to war
m up, it will tak

up to 15 seconds for the picture to reappear

When the screen is off
