Adjusting the Brightness: Exposure Compensation
By adjusting exposure compensation when taking pictures, overall image
brightness can be adjusted to make images brighter or darker.

Press o (exposure compensation) on the
multi selector.
The exposure compensation guide is displayed.

Press the multi selector H or I to select a
compensation value.
To make the subject brighter, adjust the exposure
compensation to the “+” side.
To make the subject darker, adjust the exposure
compensation to the “-” side.

Press the k button.
If a setting is not applied by pressing the
k button within a few seconds, the selection is
cancelled.
When set to any value other than 0.0, the value is displayed with the H icon in the
monitor.

Press the shutter-release button to shoot.
To turn off exposure compensation, repeat from step 1
and set the value to 0.0, then press the
k button.

Exposure Compensation Value
The exposure compensation setting applied in A (auto) mode (
A 50) is saved in the camera’s
memory even after the camera is turned off.
