CREATE VLAN TYPE=MACADDRESS
Syntax
create vlan=
name
vid=
vid
type=macaddress
Parameters
vlan
Specifies the name of the VLAN. You must assign a
name to a VLAN.
The name can be from 1 to 20 characters in length
and should reflect the function of the nodes that will
be a part of the VLAN (for example, Sales or
Accounting). The name cannot contain spaces or
special characters, such as asterisks (*) or
exclamation points (!).
The name cannot be the same as the name of an
existing VLAN on the switch.
If the VLAN is unique in your network, then the
name needs to be unique as well. If the VLAN spans
multiple switches, then the name for the VLAN
should be the same on each switch.
vid
Specifies the VLAN identifier. The range is 2 to
4094. The VLAN must be assigned a VID.
You cannot use the VID 1, which is reserved for the
Default_VLAN.
The VID cannot be the same as the VID of an
existing VLAN on the switch.
If this VLAN is unique in your network, then its VID
should also be unique. If this VLAN is part of a
larger VLAN that spans multiple switches, then the
VID value for the VLAN should be the same on each
switch. For example, if you are creating a VLAN
called Sales that spans three switches, assign the
Sales VLAN on each switch the same VID value.
type
Specifies the type of VLAN. To create a MAC
address-based VLAN, the type must be
MACADDRESS.
