About This Guide
The RocketRAID 4460 SAS Host Adapter’s User’s Guide provides information about
the functions and capabilities of the host adapter, and instructions for installing,
configuring and maintaining RAID arrays hosted by the adapter.
The RocketRAID 4460 Host Adapter
The HighPoint RocketRAID 4460 is the world’s fastest hybrid RAID controller
utilizing Intel IOP348 processor.The RocketRAID 4460 is the latest product in storage
technology, leveraging the storage performance in SAS and supporting the fastest
available throughput while supporting enterprise level features such as Native
Command Queuing (NCQ),staggered drive spin-up and SAF-TE (I2C) enclosure
management support.
Intel 81348 I/O Processor and SDRAM
The RocketRAID 4460 RAID Controller has an integrated hardware I/O processor for
RAID 6 parity calculations. With the new I/O processor the system CPU is free to
perform other important tasks. There is also 1GB DDR2 533 that allows for upgrading
up to 4GB of memory,with DIMM socket, support ECC protection on the RocketRAID
4460 RAID Controller for improved performance.
Comprehensive OS Support
HighPoint offers the broadest range of support for all major operating systems to
ensure OS and hardware server compatibility. Drivers are available for all major
operating systems, including Windows , Linux, Mac OS X and FreeBSD. GPL Li-
censed Linux drivers into main Linux kernel help customers easily install and config-
ure the RocketRAID 4460.
PCI-Express 2.0
HighPoint RocketRAID 4460 PCI Express 2.0 SAS/SATA RAID solution double the
bandwidth of the existing PCI Express bus enabling the fastest throughput and
enhances system performance. PCI-Express 2.0 provides 4GB/s of throughput which
doubles that of PCI-Express 1.0 at 2GB/s.
