The Posey Lift Assist helps provide caregivers with a secure lift point

when assisting patients in ambulation and transfer activities. The

Lift Assist may also help prevent back injuries to the caregiver.

• Neoprene support pad conforms to the patient.

• Two polypropylene handles extend the caregiver’s reach. Two caregivers

may assist the patient, if necessary.

• Flexible, compact and lightweight.

• Use for ambulation, moving or turning in bed, repositioning in chair,

transfers, and as a supplement for sliding board transfers.

• Machine washable.

Assisting the PAtient

A patient assessment will help identify the abilities of a patient and

determine the kind of assistance required during ambulation and transfer.
Only use on patients weighing up to 300 pounds (136 kgs).

Properly dispose of the product per facility’s policy for

BIOHAZARDOUS materials.

stORAge AnD hAnDLing

This device is designed for use in normal indoor

environments. This device may be stored in ambient

warehouse temperatures at normal humidity levels. Avoid

excess moisture or high humidity that may damage product

materials.

APPLicAtiOn instRuctiOns:

1. Stand directly in front of the patient with feet apart, with one foot

slightly ahead of the other.

2. Bend at the hips and knees, keeping your back straight.

3. Position the lift assist around the patient’s lower back and firmly grasp

the handles.

4. Slowly stand upright while directing the patient in a forward and

upward direction. If the patient has weakness at the knee, brace your

knee against the patient’s weak knee in order to stabilize it.

5. Make sure the patient can see the surface to which they are being

transferred.

6. Once the patient is in a standing position, assist him/her to pivot.

Once correctly positioned, the patient will lean forward. Gently lower

them onto the chair or bed.

Wash lukewarm, bleach as directed on container, dry low.

insPectiOn

Inspect before each use: check for broken stitches; or torn,

cut or frayed material. DO NOT use soiled or damaged products. Test that

the product will hold the full weight of the patient before transferring.

MOnitORing

Be sure to follow your facility’s policies and guidelines for

patient lifts, transfers and frequency of patient monitoring. Check for

skin integrity, proper circulation and perform range of motion and

rehabilitation exercises.
