Encapsulating Bootie Heel Guards
THERAPY AND AMBULATION
Encapsulating Bootie Heel Guards
Each Heel Guard is constructed of a breathable
vinyl mesh outer shell with a cotton inside liner, and
filled with non-absorbent, polystyrene beads. This
design allows air to flow through the guards, thereby
helping to reduce the discomfort associated with
foam products that do not breath and build up heat.
Each Heel Guard features a soft 4” (10 cm) wide strap
with a hook closure to secure it in place on the
patient, and a zippered closure to allow the addition
or removal of beads.

Storage and Handling
This device is designed for use in normal indoor environments. This
device may be stored in ambient warehouse temperatures at normal
humidity levels. Avoid excess moisture or high humidity that may
damage product materials.
Inspection
Inspect before each use: check for broken
stitches; or torn, cut or frayed material. DO NOT
use soiled or damaged products. DO NOT use if the
product has a hole or beads are leaking out.
Posey Encapsulating Bootie Heel Guards are designed
to surround and conform to the contours on the
patient’s heel, while helping to protect both the skin
and underlying tissues with a protective cushion of
air suspended in a bead fill. The unique bead fill
allows the guard to be reshaped for each individual’s
needs.
Application Instructions:
1. Prepare the Posey Bootie Heel Guard by creating
a cavity for the heel by moving the beads.
2. Place the patient’s heel in the cavity (Fig. 1).
3. Adjust the beads as desired.
4. Repeat for the other foot.
5. Reposition the patient as necessary.
