Operating Instructions

Before Operating

This user manual serves as your reference to help you operate and

maintain the device. If you have any questions or concerns please

call your home care provider.

Important! DO NOT attempt to operate the Companion 5 without

first reading the Safety Guidelines section of this manual.

Please follow all of the operating instructions. Please observe

all Warnings on the device and in the Users Manual. In order to

reduce the risk of fire, personal injury and serious damage to the

Companion 5, please observe all of the safety precautions.

The CAIRE Companion 5 does not create its own oxygen. It

produces highly concentrated oxygen from surrounding room air

and delivers it to you. As it naturally exists, room air contains

approximately only 21% oxygen by volume.

Room air is drawn into the concentrator by a compressor. The

air then travels through a series of filters and a molecular sieve

bed that chemically adsorbs nitrogen molecules. As a result, the

oxygen-enriched air that exits the concentrator is delivered at

87–95% oxygen by volume.
