Option I – Interactive Testing
When -I is selected, the prompt for entering the test command sent to the device
appears and after the command string is entered, the response from the device is
displayed. When the device name is not specified, an error message appears. The
maximum command length is 239 characters.
Option K – Display Character Count for all Messages
When -K is selected, the display character count for all messages feature is toggled.
The default is “Off.” The display character count is not displayed.
When this option is set to on NSPDIAG displays the character count when commands
are sent and responses are received. For example:
Display character count for all messages is Off:
Display character count for all messages is On:
The character count is 10 for the command and 19 for the response.
All the non printable characters, such as
period character ‘.’ and are included in the character count.
Option L – Log File Name
The log file must be used as it contains all test results. The default log file name is
NSPLOG. Any legal file name for the log file is allowed. The spooler may be used for
the log file.
When -L is selected, the current log file and the prompt for new log file name is
displayed. When nothing but space(s) is entered the log file name is erased. When a
new log file exists, the following prompt appears:
Log file (new file name) exists
Do you want to Append (A), Halt (H), Overwrite (O), or Rename (R): _
Use rename to enter another log file name.
