Preparing to Run
PCFORMAT
PCFORMAT is run from the COMINT prompt (:) after you have logged
onto the host system. If your 654X is logged onto the host and displaying
the COMINT prompt, skip the steps that follow. Otherwise, proceed with
the appropriate steps to “ready” your 654X workstation for PCFORMAT
operation.
1. Install the MS-DOS diskette in drive A of your 654X workstation and
the MS-DOS supplemental diskette in drive B.
2. Turn on power to the 654X (power to the diskette drive must also be
on).
3. When the self-test completes and MS-DOS boots from drive A, do one
of the following:
a. When the date and time prompts appear on the screen, enter the
current date and time, respectively.
b. Or, when the date and time prompts appear, simply press RETURN
at each prompt. When the MS-DOS command line prompt is
displayed, type “B:HOSTTIME” and press RETURN. The
HOSTTIME.EXE program on the MS-DOS supplemental diskette
automatically provides the host system time and date to MS-DOS.
4. With the MS-DOS command line prompt (A>) displayed, run the
EM653X emulator (on the MS-DOS supplemental diskette) as follows:
a. Type “B:T” on the MS-DOS command line and press RETURN to
run EM653X. (Drive B: contains the emulator.)
b. When the screen is erased, press RETURN to display the COMINT
prompt.
5. Log onto the host system.
