Installation and configuration overview
The following HP Insight Recovery installation and configuration overview includes links to
information on each step in the process.
1. Confirm that all HP Insight Recovery installation and configuration prerequisites have been
met — see
“Installation and configuration prerequisites” (page 11) for more information.
2. Install and license HP Insight Recovery — see “Installing and licensing HP Insight Recovery”
(page 11) for more information.
3. Confirm that you have a supported networking configuration — see “Networking setup”
(page 12) for more information.
4. Configure storage — see “Storage setup” (page 13) for more information.
5. Configure for DR Protection — see “Primary Site logical server setup” (page 14) for more
information.
6. Configure logical servers at the Recovery Site — see “ Recovery Site logical server setup”
(page 14) for more information.
7. Configure HP Insight Recovery — see “Configuring HP Insight Recovery” (page 15) for
more information.
Installation and configuration prerequisites
HP Insight Recovery is an HP Insight Dynamics component that provides the Insight Dynamics
recovery management capability. HP Insight Dynamics and dependent software must be installed
on the Central Management Server at the Primary Site and the Recovery Site, before HP Insight
Recovery can be installed. For more information, refer to the HP Insight Software 6.0 Installation
and Configuration Guide available at:

Confirm that both the Primary Site and Recovery Site meet the support requirements specified
for HP Insight Recovery in the HP Insight Dynamics support matrix, including supported servers,
storage, browsers, operating systems, databases, and hypervisors. The HP Insight Software 6.0
Support Matrix is available at:

NOTE: It is assumed that networking and storage replication links are present between the
Primary Site and the Recovery Site.
Installing and licensing HP Insight Recovery
Install HP Insight Dynamics and dependent software on the Central Management Station at the
Primary Site and Recovery Site. Next, discover the managed infrastructure at each site from HP
Systems Insight Manager - then apply the license for HP Insight Recovery using the Managed
System Setup Wizard. For more information, refer to the HP Insight Software 6.0 Installation and
Configuration Guide and the Insight Managed System Setup Wizard 6.0 Getting Started Guide available

Upgrading to HP Insight Recovery 6.0
If you upgrade from HP Insight Recovery 1.0 to HP Insight Recovery 6.0, you must use HP SIM ,
after the upgrade is completed, to manually discover HP Command View EVA Storage
Management Servers that were part of the HP Insight Recovery 1.0 configuration. From HP SIM
select Options
→ Discovery to add a new discovery task for the HP Command View EVA Storage
Management Servers. After the discovery task is completed, use the following procedure from
the HP Insight Recovery 6.0 Storage Management Servers tab, to refresh the credentials for
each EVA Storage Management Server:
