4 Operations

4-1 Making Water Chiller Systems Operational

1.

Make sure that the chiller or chilling system is ready for
operation. See your chiller manual for startup procedure
information.

2.

Verify that the complete chiller system is filled with
ethylene glycol solution as required by the operating
temperature. Make sure that all valves are open and that the
chilled water piping is tied in correctly. An antifreeze
solution is required when operating the chiller at
temperatures at or below 50ºF (10ºC) leaving water
temperature.

3.

Start the chiller pump and check all piping for leaks. Also,
check for proper piping hookup as described in the piping
schematic in Figure 6 on page 18.

4.

Turn off the pump.

4-2 Starting the Cooler

1.

Start the blower. Check the blower for proper rotation.

!

CAUTION

Blower amps should not exceed nameplate amps.

If the amp draw is too high, start restricting air flow

by closing the blower damper until the reading

is less than the nameplate amp rating.

2.

Start the blown film line (extruder and its air handling
system), and obtain maximum production speed without
using refrigerated air.

3.

Start the pump and chiller.
