1.2 Caution During Use
Please
Some cases for using the WDS-AUTO2 may not suit all customer's applications. Prior to the practical application,
consider the following information and method to determine whether it is suited for its expectations.
●
In order to raise the accuracy of data transmission, the receiver and transmitter will resend data between each
other, but due to the characteristics of radio transmission, some data may not reach the receiver end due to packet
loss, or the same data will arrive at the same receiver as duplicated data.
●
This product conforms to the IEEE802.15.4 wireless-communications standard for the Zigbee 2004 directive, and,
therefore, the data exchange between radio modules is always performed internally. If the condition in which the
characteristics of two or more transmitters are connected and simultaneous data transmission from two or more
sets with frequent data transmission (continuation from a few to several ms in the ON/OFF state) are performed, the
network layout may cause frequent delays with data, data duplication, or data packet loss due to the characteristics
of wireless communication. In addition, depending on the network construction, communication cannot be
completed due to the situation of an overload, because the overload makes it impossible to completely receive
data.
●
Below are three points listed to avoid the above situations from occurring if at all possible.
(1) Ensure good communication quality (investigate the signal strength) in the desired environment. (Main Manu-
al "9.6 Signal Strength Scanner")
(2) Please use only up to 20 transmitters per receiver.
(3) Verify the following if re-connection of a transmitter is frequently made; when data overlaps; has frequent data
packet loss, or data duplication:
• Data is acquired when sent from the individual transmitters to the host.
can be acquired by a transmitter request command transmission.> • Reduce each transmitter per receiver to reduce the load and reconnect the network to reduce the communication load generated. ● The WDS-AUTO2 is a simple tool prepared to help a customer know the function of the WD product. Please note the following points before operation: (1) The purpose of the WDS-AUTO2 is to demonstrate the features of the wireless system and is not designed for prolonged continuous operation. If the software is to be used for prolonged use, it is recommended that the WDS-AUTO2 be rebooted periodically after several days, or the customer design and develop a software appli- cation before utilizing the product. (2) The WDS-AUTO2 is designed to handle a receiver (LAN access: 20 units and USB connection:1 unit) and up to a maximum of 400 transmitters in total. In a system requiring more transmitters than the number mentioned above, it is highly recommended for the customer to design and develop an application to utilize this product for that quantity. The CSV output quantity for the WDS-AUTO2 is possible for up to 400 transmitters. (3) When using the WDS-AUTO2, there may be the possibility of unexpected troubles, such as a decrease in perfor- mance when used in conjunction with other applications or when transmitting and receiving heavy amounts of data, in which case, it is recommended you use the WDS-AUTO2 on a specially-designated machine. (4) The WDS-AUTO2 application is not guaranteed to operate on all personal computers. Therefore, due to the variety of hardware and software, there may be some cases in which it is not compatable with a particular personal computer model, etc. In addition, other applications previously installed may also have an effect on the application, due to the competition of shared files which the WDS-AUTO2 may also use. If such instance occurs, it is recommended to immediately uninstall the WDS-AUTO2 application and reinstall after the problem is solved. ● Since the WDS-AUTO2 uses a means of judgment for when the transmitter withdrawals from a network, it is recommended to setup the condition monitoring (heartbeat setup) feature for the transmitters. If the application
does not require the "heartbeat" setup, the "Transmitter Withdrawal" and "No Transmitter Response" status will not
be outputted to a CSV file.
