GENERAL INFORMATION
1. These pumps are equipped with an omni-directional
mechanical float switch. The pump will turn on
automatically when the water level in the basin
reaches approximately the float switch "on" level and
automatically turn off when the water is pumped down
to the fl oat switch "off" level. See Chart A for details.
2. The pit must be a minimum of 30" deep and 18" in
diameter. The pump requires a minimum diameter
of 18" so that the float switch will operate without
restriction. Any smaller diameter may restrict the
switch operation, resulting in pump failure.
INSTALLATION (See Figure 1)
1. For your safety, turn off the electrical power at the
service entrance to avoid any possible electrical
shock hazards. Electrical wiring and protection
must be in accordance with National Electrical Code
and any other applicable state and local electrical
requirements.
2. Install proper check valve, preferably just above the
basin to allow easy removal of the pump for cleaning
or repair.
3. All installations require a basin cover to prevent debris
from falling into the basin and to prevent accidental
injury.
4. Gas tight seals are required in all sewage installations
to contain gases and odors.
5. Vent gases and odors to the atmosphere through vent
pipe.
6. When a check valve is installed, drill a 3/16" dia. hole
in the discharge pipe even with the top of the pump.
NOTE: THE HOLE MUST ALSO BE BELOW THE
BASIN COVER AND CLEANED PE RI OD I CAL LY.
Water stream will be visible from this hole during pump
run periods.
7. Securely tape or clamp power cord to discharge pipe.
8. Use full-size discharge pipe.
9. Basin must be in accordance with applicable codes
and specifications.
10. Pump must be level and float mechanism clear of
sides of basin before starting pump.
11. Basin must be clean and free of debris after
installation.
12. Gate Valve or Ball Valve to be supplied by installer and
installed according to any and all codes.
13. Plug in pump and restore power at the service
entrance. Fill basin with water to check automatic
switch operation and adjust if necessary to prevent
switch from ‘hanging-up” and preventing proper pump
operation. Once proper operation is verified, install
basin cover
