8. PERIODICAL
CHECKS
The following is a list of recommended check and maintenance
operations that should be periodically carried-out by qualified
personnel (Paragraph 2.2.6 “Controls after first installation”)
Check that:
The ESPE stays locked (
) during beam interruption along the
entire protected area, using the suitable “Test Piece” (*)
The ESPE is correctly aligned. Press slightly product side, in both
directions and the red LED (
) must not turn ON.
Enabling the TEST function, the OSSD outputs should open (the
red LED
is ON and the controlled machine stops).
The response time upon machine STOP (including response time
of the ESPE and of the machine) is within the limits defined for the
calculation of the safety distance (see section 2 “Installation
mode”).
The safety distance between the dangerous areas and the ESPE
are in accordance with the instructions included in section 2
“Installation mode”.
Access of a person between ESPE and machine dangerous parts is
not possible nor is it possible for him/her to stay there.
Access to the dangerous area of the machine from any unprotected
area is not possible.
The ESPE and the external electrical connections are not
damaged.
The frequency of checks depends on the particular application and
on the operating conditions of the safety light curtain.
(*) according to the Fig.12 scheme
Verify that:
ESPE remains blocked (
) intercepting the beams along the
protected area using the specific test piece, following the Fig.12
scheme.
