Lift the top cover straight up approximately five inches until you can access the fan power cord.

Do not touch any electronic components inside the ISS. Doing so could damage the switcher. Electrostatic
discharge (ESD) can damage IC chips even though you cannot feel it. You must be electrically grounded
before proceeding with maintenance. A grounding wrist strap is recommended.

Disconnect the fan power cord from connector J46 on the main board.

Lift the top cover out of the way.

Perform the desired maintenance procedure. See “Installing an Optional SDI/HD-SDI Input Board”, below,
or “Installing an Optional Output Board”, later in this chapter.
Installing an Optional SDI/HD-SDI Input Board
You can install an optional SDI/HD-SDI input board in the ISS. With the board installed, the switcher can input
SDI or HD-SDI video on input 6. Extron recommends that you send the unit to Extron for service and updates.
Install an optional SDI/HD-SDI input board in the ISS as follows:

Changes to electronic components must be performed by authorized service personnel only.

To prevent electric shock, always unplug the ISS from the AC power source before opening the enclosure.

Open the switcher. See “Opening the Switcher” on page 1.
