The active splitter distributes the electrical input data stream (DVB/ASI)
to 8 electrically equivalent outputs.
DTS 397 is a 19" module requiring 1 rack unit (1 RU) in the 19" rack. One
ASI test port is located on the front panel. Six LEDs indicate the operating
conditions.
At the module's back there are the electrical input and output ports. The
device is equipped with 2 power supplies. This makes it possible to operate
the device at different circuits if redundancy is needed.

According to DVB, the input data stream can be composed byte-wise and/or
packet-wise. However, the MPEG-2 data in the ASI signal stream is made
available at the outputs as packets.
Signal Processing in the ASI interface is done according to DVB, Asynchronus Serial Interface (ASI).
Only MPEG data meeting the MPEG-2 standard ISO/IEC 13818-1 is transmitted.
